June movie preview

June is here people, summer is about to roll in, as is summer movie season, though for all intents and purposes it’s already started with Mad Max Fury Road and Avengers Age Of Ultron being out, but now we have 3 months of decent to great movies to come with some big hitters in the mix and here are some from June to look out for.

Entourage – released 3rd of June

Entourage the movie is the long awaited continuation of the show, following the adventures of movie star Vincent Chase and his friends in LA, expect more of the same from the show in the movie and a return of some fan favourite characters, Johnny Drama, Turtle, Ari Gold. It won’t be for everyone but a treat for Entourage fans, starring Adrien Grenier, Kevin Connolly, Kevin Dillon, Jerry Ferrara, Jeremy Piven, Billy Bob Thornton.

Spy – released 5th of June

Spy, action comedy Spy from Paul Feig (Bridesmaids, The Heat) is a… spy comedy, not taking itself too seriously and looking like it’s quite a bit of fun, centred on a desk working CIA analyst Susan Cooper (Melissa McCarthy) working with her partner Bradley Fine (Jude Law), who has to take to active field work once their active agents are compromised. It’s an uncompromising looking film, knowing exactly what it is and it should be fun to watch, Jason Statham in a comedy film as well should be especially good to watch. Starring Melissa McCarthy, Jude Law, Jason Statham, Rose Byrne, Miranda Hart, Alison Janney.

Insidious Chapter 3 – released 5th of June

Continuation of the Insidious franchise and not actually a sequel to the first two movies but a prequel, also not directed by James Wan, expect more of the same from chapters 1 and 2, malevolent spirits trying to possess someone, starring Dermot Mulroney, Stefanie Scott, Angus Sampson, Linn Shaye who starred in Chapter 2.

Jurassic World – released 12th of June

The Jurassic film franchise is back off of months of hype and promotion and it looks like a fresh, exciting new installment in the series, channeling the spirit of the vision of Jurassic Park with a fully functioning dinosaur park attracting thousands of visitors, there have been no incidents as yet. Until things go wrong of course and a genetically engineered dinosaur the Indominus Rex breaks out of its’ enclosure and… well we sort of know what happens next. Chris Pratts’ character is commissioned to help fix things and save people in the island. Starring Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Vincent D’Onofrio, Irfan Khan, Judy Greer.

Inside Out – released 19th of June

Woo a new Pixar film! Inside Out is a different sort of film, set almost entirely inside the mind of a young girl (Riley) as she goes through a turbulent period in her life, we see the inner workings of her mind as seeing from the perspective of five different emotions in her mind, Joy, Anger, Disgust, Fear and Sadness working through different situations to deliver the right responses/actions. We’ll also see the same emotion characters in different characters in the film, with Rileys’ dad and mom, the film looks pretty good from the trailer and I really like the premise and I won’t be surprised if this is Pixars’ next big hit. Starring – Amy Poehler, Phyllis Smith, Bill Hader, Lewis Black, Mindy Kaling.

Ted 2 – released 25th of June

Marky Mark and Ted are back in Ted 2, but this time around Ted is trying to have a baby with his girlfriend from the previous film and has to prove to a court of law that he’s human, to have custody of the child. Expect more of the same in relation to the first film plus some more boundary pushing humour, if you liked Ted, you’ll probably like Ted 2. Starring Mark Walhberg, Seth MacFarlane, Amanda Seyfried, Liam Neeson, Morgan Freeman.
